Rooted in the Earth, Grounded in Community
We are a collective of Michigan based artists who care deeply about the ground beneath our boots, the people in our neighborhoods, and the sacred waters of the Great Lakes. We founded Our Clouds Our Land out of deep exhaustion and righteous anger. Right now Michigan is being targeted by massive multi-billion-dollar tech corporations. Under the guise of "innovation" they are build sprawling, energy-hogging artificial intelligence data centers across our state. These facilities don’t just take up land, they act as a massive drain on our electrical grid, pocket millions in tax breaks, and consume millions of gallons of our precious fresh water every single day just to cool their servers. We say NO MORE!
Our mission is to use art as a shield and a megaphone to defend Michigan’s communities, forests, and aquifers from corporate exploitation. We believe that a thriving community and a protected planet must always be prioritized over corporate profit and data pipelines.
Where We Stand
-People Over Profit: We reject the narrative that sacrificing our local resources for tech conglomerate tax write-offs is "progress"
-Protect Our Lakes: The Great Lakes hold over 20% of the world's fresh surface water. We will fiercely oppose any corporate entity that treats our most precious life source like a free, private utility
-Creativity as Resistance: We channel our collective skills into visual, physical, and digital art to expose the truth about hyperscale data centers, rally local communities, and demand accountability
The sky belongs to the clouds, and the ground belongs to the people. Weve planted our roots here, and we are not backing down.
